Take these recommendations to ensure a beautiful lawn next season:

SINGLE CORE AERATION: Annual core aeration is beneficial for many lawns to reduce thatch, relieve compaction, and increase root depth in poor soils. Single core aeration is also used to prepare a seedbed for light, annual over-seeding. Light, annual over-seeding is the best way to keep your lawn thick & healthy while continually adding the most durable turf grass.

DOUBLE CORE AERATION: Double core aeration is used for dramatic thatch and compaction relief. Double core will also prepare a better seedbed than single core aeration for both minor and major lawn renovation.

VERTICUT – NO RAKE: For bare and thin areas, combining a verticut service with core aeration provides the best possible seedbed.  The process we recommend combines all the benefits of verticutting and core aeration. We are able to redistribute the debris and soil by verticutting and core aerating over the top.  The plugs from the core aeration, along with the verticut debris, helps increase the success of seed germination by improving moisture retention.

SPRINKLER SYSTEMS: Any underground equipment that is not marked may be damaged by renovation equipment. Wire flags are available at most hardware stores.  If you are concerned about shallow utility wires, call 811.  In Kansas, go to www.kansasonecall.com/homeowners in Missouri call 1-800-dig-right to request marking your lines a week prior to our scheduled renovation.  This service is free to all property owners.

WATER TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SEED AND LABOR INVESTMENT Water the new seed frequently until the grass seedlings have been up for at least two weeks. The lawn must be kept wet enough that exposed soil always has a dark, wet look. The seed may require only a single watering per day on cool, cloudy days; but, on warm, windy days the lawn may need to be watered lightly 2-4 times per day.  If you do not have an irrigation system, oscillating sprinklers work best as they are least likely to cause seed run-off.  You can increase efficiency by adding a timer to your hose.  Following these watering guidelines will increase your new lawn’s growth potential. Your hard work through this watering process is the only way to ensure success!
